My skin feels damaged and rough - Try Glycolic Acid
Glycolic acid is part of the alphahydroxy acid (AHA) family which helps increase cell turnover and creates elastin and collagen. It works by destroying the bonds between old skin cells and making way for healthier skin. The small molecular size of glycolic acid makes it able to penetrate the skin.
Glycolic acid is strong, so if you have normal to sensitive skin, try lactic acid.
For those with sensitive skin, use mandelic acid.
Lactic acid and mandelic acid penetrates the skin more slowly and may be less irritating.
My skin is dry and needs plumping - Try hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid is a natural compound found in skin that holds in moisture, provides cushioning, aids tissue repair, holds together collagen and elastin, and helps create a barrier against microorganisms. It is a naturally occurring polysaccharide (carbohydrate) in the body. Its ability to replenish moisture is the key to having supple skin.
My skin is breaking out - Try salicylic acid
Salicylic acid works by dissolving oil and dead skin cells. It exfoliates to remove dead skin cells inside the pore and also on the surface of the skin. It's an anti-inflammatory so it reduces redness and soothes skin. Salicylic Acid is considered a BHA (beta hydroxy acid).
My skin is showing signs of againg - Try retinoic acid
Retinoic acid is in a family of retinoids, which are compounds derived from retinol or vitamin A. Retinoic acid removes dead skin to reveal new, healthy skin and stimulates collagen production. It also helps treat acne because it exfoliates!
My skin has acne scars - Try ascorbic acid
Ascorbic acid, also known as vitamin C, brightens and fades dark spots, acne scars, and reduces the appearance of sun damage. Vitamin C is a great ingredient for everyone because it is an antioxidant that improves the appearance of signs of aging.
